策展理念

《叁式!! Ultra Combos!!》展覽為叁式藝文團體首次公開發表之個展。「叁式」以觀看當下身處的日常狀態與遊戲經驗為基礎,以新媒體創作型態轉介為互動藝術裝置,於展覽中再現其「類電玩」事件場景。

「叁式」典故源於電玩之中,角色之身心靈處於熾紅緊繃狀態下才能激發出的究極招式,恰如當代新媒體藝術處於持續膨脹之多變躍動氛圍;「叁式」同時也指向著新媒體領域中「藝術」、「應用」以及「教育」等三個共生之循環狀態;以藝術創作精神態度執行應用專案,並將執行專案之具體實務經驗轉成教育養份能量,並透過推廣教育促成更多未來的新一代新媒體藝術創作者。

除以展覽呈現叁式創作能量成果外,更藉由工作坊教學與藝術家座談等活動,與一般民眾及相關人士進行推廣交流;並於展覽期間持續將活動紀錄、工作坊教學內容與技術成果等,發佈於網路平台作為廣泛分享資源。

Ultra Combos! Exhibition Description

The exhibition Ultra Combos consist of art work by the multimedia-and-installation group by the same name of Ultra Combos. This exhibition use experiences from everyday life and video games as the basis for their work, altering new media into an interactive form of art installation, creating an arcade-like setting in the gallery itself.
The name “Ultra Combos” originated from gaming;a combo is the ultimate series of attacks that can only be used when the body and soul of the character is in an intense state. These characteristics of a combo are similar to that of multimedia art, due to its expansive and vibrant nature. The name Ultra Combos also refers to the three symbiotic states in new media art –“Art”, “Application”, and “Education”. Ultra Combos uses the attitude and spirit of artistic creation to create physical experiences that would further nurture the next generation of new media artists.

叁式藝文團體簡介

「叁式」藝文團體(Ultra Combos)成立於2010年。目前致力於新媒體互動藝術創作以及教育推廣等工作,從2006年至今,其中成員分別參展演出於國內外各重要藝術節活動,包括台北數位藝術節、高雄國際貨櫃藝術節、404國際電子藝術節、巴西國際電子語言藝術節以及阿根廷TSONAMI國際聲響藝術節等,並於2010年與今年分別策劃主辦「台灣電虎-2010新媒體跨領域表演藝術交流祭」與「超常雕塑-Extraordinary Sculpture / 國際互動藝術邀請展」。為台灣目前極具風格特色之新媒體藝術團體。

Introduction of the group Ultra Combos
Ultra Combos was created in the year 2010. It has been creating pieces of New Media and Interactive Media art as well as promoting New Media and Interactive Media in education. From 2006, members of Ultra Combos have individually participated in and performed in many important national and international digital arts festival. These festivals are Taipei Digital Art Festival, Kaohsiung Art Festival, International Festival of Electronic Art 404, Electronic Language International Festival in Brazil, Tsonami Buenos Aires in Argentina, etc. They have also planned and hosted Taiwan Electronic Tiger Festival and International , Extraordinary Sculpture International Interactive Art Exhibition. They are Taiwan’s group of new media artists with extreme style .

《力造》 Force

《力造》以滾球在圓弧凹槽裝置內進行圓周運動作為事件開端。立基於「F=MV平方除以R」,你會看到、聽到、感知到,關於「力」所造成的一連串「偽物理」現象。

註解:F=向心力
M=質量
V=速率
R=圓周半徑

 

Force
The piece Force starts with a ball moving in a circular motion moving in an arched-shaped trough. Using the formula “F=MV2 /R”, one will be able to see, hear, experience the pseudo-physical string of phenomena created by the piece Force.
F= Centripetal Force
M=Mass
V= Speed
R= Radius of Curvature

《害人乓》 New Pong

《乓》是Atari公司在1972年11月29日推出的一款投幣式街機遊戲。《乓》(碰碰彈子台)是一款桌球遊戲,其英文名稱Pong來自球被擊打後所發出的聲音。它同時幾乎也被公認為是電子遊戲歷史上第一個街機電子遊戲。

New Pong
Pong was the new type of arcade game created by the company Atari in November 29, 1972. The game is based off of table tennis and is played by deflecting a ball by moving the paddle. The name Pong originate from the sound in which it makes when the ball comes with contact with the paddle. It is recognized to be the first electronic arcade game in history.

《食貪蛇》 Snake

『「貪食蛇是一個產生於1970年代中後期的計算機遊戲。此類遊戲在1990年代由於一些小螢幕設備引入而再度流行起來,在現在的手機上基本都可安裝此小遊戲。」
在遊戲中,玩家操控一條細長的直線(俗稱蛇或蟲),它會不停前進,玩家只能操控蛇的頭部朝向(上下左右),一路拾起觸碰到之物(或稱作「豆」),並要避免觸碰到自身或者其他障礙物。每次貪食蛇吃掉一件食物,它的身體便增長一些,速度更逐漸加快,讓遊戲的難度漸漸變大。有些遊戲設計成四周牆壁皆可穿透,這有時比不可穿透牆壁更高難度。貪食蛇可以考驗個人的敏捷與反應。』

Snake
Snake is a calculator game created in the late 1970s. In 1990, Snake and other similar games were revived and became incredibly popular. It is now so widespread that the digital application could be easily downloaded by mobile phone.
In the game, the player controls a thin line which represent a bug or a snake. The player shifts the head of the snake in a certain direction to prevent the continuously moving snake from crashing into objects, its own tail or to swallow food. Every time the snake swallows food, it becomes longer and moves at a faster speed, making the game more difficult. The game is a test of one’s reflexes.

《原子》 Atom

「原子是一種元素能保持其化學性質的最小單位。一個原子包含有一個緻密的原子核及若干圍繞在原子核周圍帶負電的電子。原子核由帶正電的質子和電中性的中子組成。」

古典物理中其原子是一種不可切分的單位,聚合之後又形成了某種意義上不可切分的關係。這樣一個簡單的原理與規則構築了整個世界。

引介微觀原子的特性,觀眾能夠進入《原子》裝置場域內,觀察並直覺地改變彼此及視覺聲響等鏈結狀態。

 

Atom
(Interactive Floor)
The Atom is the smallest unit of an element . One atom contains a central nucleus that consists of protons and neutrons(except for hydrogen-1) and is surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons. In classical physics, the atom is a non-dividable unit. When grouped, however, it forms a relation that cannot be divided . These simple concepts and rules are what created the world of today.
Using the properties of the atom, people are able to experience change in the sense when entering the installation Atom.

《隱藏角色》 secret character

「六十公里的速度下,看不見二十公里所見的風景」。

人們日常生活透過電視媒體,被迫在一秒內觀看30張一行1920個一列1080個共兩百多萬的點所構成的影像,現在當我們一秒內只需要觀看30張一行256個點所構成的線,這是一個怎樣的風景?

《隱藏角色》為單一成行的LED顯示裝置, 觀者可透過相機做為接收影像訊息之載具,經由長曝的方式融入當下的手持晃動與呼吸脈動, 將光流下的「隱藏角色」再現為完整畫面。

 

Secret Character
“You cannot see the scenery of twenty kilometers per hour with that of the speed of sixty ”
Through media, people are forced to see thirty images made of 1920 by 1080 pixels in one second. What would the scenery be like if one was to view thirty images made of a line of 256 pixels in a second?

Secret Character is constructed with a row of LED monitors. The viewer becomes vehicle for receiving images and data through the camera. Through constant exposure, integration of the shaking of the hand,exhalation and pulse of the body, the secrete character is completely revealed.

《擾光音》Sound of breeze

「此時此刻的當場,我們下意識的忽略了無止盡個透明彿過。」

透過皮膚人們能微微地感知著場域內緩慢的氣體流動,但如此渺小透明存在總是令人輕易忽略。

《擾光音》利用擷取浮空氣球的動態資訊,重現不可見的氣流或人為擾動所產生的加減速度與角度,轉變為光與聲響。

又來了一陣沁涼微風,這次無須閉上眼睛。

 

Sound of Breeze
Our skin is sensitive enough to be able to tell the flow of air in our surroundings, despite how these transparent and miniscule presence are easily forgotten and ignored. Sound of Breeze uses data from floating balloons, changes in invisible air currents or the change of angles and speed or the current due to human disturbances and converts them into light and sound. Here comes another crisp breeze without needing to close your eyes.
